HydroGraph clears EPA, UK REACH and EU REACH for graphene materials tied to coatings push
HydroGraph said on February 24, 2026, that it has secured U.S. EPA and UK and EU REACH clearances for its graphene materials, removing a major regulatory hurdle as the company works to commercialize graphene-enabled coatings and other industrial products. The company said the authorizations cover manufacture, processing, distribution, use and disposal in the United States, while also enabling commercial supply in Great Britain and the European Union.
EPA order opens the U.S. market for HydroGraph graphene
In the United States, the Environmental Protection Agency issued a TSCA Section 5(e) Order for two of HydroGraph’s graphene materials, described as graphene, turbostratic, 3-9 layers and graphene, turbostratic, about 32 layers. HydroGraph said the order sets the operating conditions for commercial manufacture and use, including workplace protections, environmental release controls and record-keeping requirements.
The company said the order is effective after the applicable review period and allows it to move toward commercial manufacture under those terms. HydroGraph said it is still working through final administrative steps before full commercial commencement.
REACH registrations widen the addressable market in Europe
HydroGraph said it also received confirmation of UK REACH registration and EU REACH registration for graphene, which it said provides regulatory clarity for customers in Britain and across the European Union. The company said the registrations allow it to support customer scale-up activities in the region.
HydroGraph said its work in the United Kingdom includes application development with manufacturers across polymer, composite and advanced materials sectors, and that its commercial development efforts already touch coatings, polymers, energy storage and related markets.
Why the clearances matter for coatings commercialization
For graphene coatings developers, regulatory clearance is often the difference between technical validation and real sales. HydroGraph said its materials are now positioned for broader commercial engagement in coatings, polymers, batteries and advanced materials, with the U.S. order and REACH registrations providing the compliance framework needed to work with industrial customers at scale.
The company has also been building a network of qualified compounders in the United Kingdom to process its Fractal Graphene into thermoplastic formulations, suggesting the new regulatory approvals are intended to support downstream manufacturing rather than remain a paper milestone.
HydroGraph’s next step is customer scale-up, not just lab testing
HydroGraph framed the clearances as a practical commercial milestone rather than a research update. Chief Executive Officer Kjirstin Breure said the approvals expand the company’s commercial markets and support revenue-generating agreements across North America and Europe.
That makes the February 24, 2026 announcement notable because it moves the company closer to routine industrial use of graphene materials in coatings and other formulated products, where regulatory status can determine whether a supplier can actually ship.
